While change sometimes takes time to get used to – sometimes we change instantly, and yet other times we drag it out as long as we can before we’re forced to change.  There’s certainly no shortage of thoughts, comments and concerns when talking about EV’s (electric vehicles).  I’d like to go back in time and think how other things in our lives have changed vs. how they used to be, will be.

Obviously the number one concern when considering the purchase of an EV is what we call “range anxiety”.  This concern is two-fold.  Not only is range a concern but how and where to re-fuel (charge) when empty is.

Going back to my statement of “back in time” I think to myself, what did our parents and grandparents have to do when planning a road trip?  They had to pull out the old trusty paper road map.  They would look and measure the distance between towns for food, fuel, lodging, etc. and plan accordingly.  I guess to some degree, it’s the same for EV customers.  So, in that respect, it’s not much different.  Today’s technology includes multiple apps on our phones that list charging station locations which makes trip planning very easy.

Here’s the neat thing about EV’s.  You don’t buy gas anymore, which is a huge plus.  The Volkswagen EV SUV (dubbed the ID.4), is loaded with technology, making it fun and cool to drive and the power is incredible!  Imagine how fast your kitchen blender gets up to full speed when you switch it from the “off” position to its fastest setting. An EV does the same being that it too is electric.

Another great thing…. Leasing.  If you lease an ID.4 (and soon the ID.BUZZ) you get an instant $7,500 federal government incentive without having any IRS income requirements or limitations. The incentive is available to everyone on a lease.  Also, if you do lease, you’re only paying for the first part of the car’s life and you’re not obligated any further past your 2-, 3- or 4-year lease.  If the technology gets outdated, you have the option to swap it out at the end of your lease term.  Leasing does consist of 90% or more of all our ID.4 sales at Hewlett Volkswagen, it’s that popular.

Yes, I mentioned the ID.Buzz above, and yes, it’s coming at the end of this year.  This retro looking bus EV will turn heads no matter where you’re at and the only thing retro about it is the look – but even that is decorated with a very modern touch.  The technology will once again be far and above what any of us can imagine.  We are super excited about this vehicle as it promises to be one of the biggest new vehicle launches in a long time.  Although we do not have pricing yet, we do have a great selection already on our allocation list slated for dealer inventory in the fourth quarter.  Interested in learning more about a Volkswagen EV?  Come see us today.

Happy Summer to all and thank you very much for your continued support.
